A Parisian police chief has an affair, but unbeknownst to him, the boyfriend of the woman he’s having an affair with is a bank robber planning a heist.
What's left behind the scenes
- During filming, director and screenwriter Jean-Pierre Melville ordered a small wooden booth (something like a site shack) to be built on set, where he spent a significant amount of time, refusing to communicate with both the actors and the technical crew.
- While Commissioner Colman, played by Alain Delon, inspects the crime scene, viewers notice names written on the wall, including the name Jeff Costello. That was the name of Delon's character in his previous collaboration with Jean-Pierre Melville—the drama 'Le Samouraï' (1967).
- During filming, director and writer Jean-Pierre Melville ordered screenwriter Florence Moncorge-Gabin to wear a wig because he did not like the color of her hair.
