Short description

The chilling true story of a newly married FBI poster boy assigned to an Appalachian mountain town in Kentucky. There he is drawn into an illicit affair with an impoverished local woman who becomes his star informant. She sees in him her means of escape; instead, it's a ticket to disaster for both of them.

Filming took place in the cities of Harlan and Paris, Kentucky.
A sign with the name Shyler Grimsman stands before the bank employee. In reality, this is the name of the coordinator of the series' art department.
The story the film tells takes place in Pikeville, Kentucky. The city is known for being the location of the events known as the Hatfield–McCoy feud (the conflict between two families from 1878-1891). However, most of the film's events unfold in the picturesque area of Harlan County. The television series “Justified” (2010-2015) is also set in this county.
