Short description
Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a doll maker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the doll maker's possessed creation—Annabelle.
What's left behind the scenes
- The doll that the Higginses give to Janice when visiting her in the orphanage is an exact copy of Raggedy Ann. (This is a character from a series of children's books written and illustrated by Johnny Gruelle. She was first created as a doll in 1915 and was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2002.)
- The new "Annabelle" is already the fourth film in James Wan's horror cinematic universe and, at the same time, chronologically the very first film, preceding "The Conjuring."
- In the photograph from Romania that Sister Charlotte shows Samuel, the demon nun Valak can be seen. The horror film “The Nun” by Corin Hardy was also filmed in Romania.
- The house of the dollmaker Mullins and his wife is the same as Dolores’ house from the HBO television series “Westworld” (2016).
- The doll that Annabelle, or rather Janis, holds at the end of the film bears a striking resemblance to the 'real' Annabelle doll. The latter was not used precisely because of its similarity to the doll shown in the films. The real doll looked exactly like this – it was made of cloth, not porcelain. It is still kept in the home of Lorraine Warren, a famous paranormal investigator, where it is shown to visitors.
