What's left behind the scenes
- While performing one of the stunts, Jackie Chan hit his head hard and lost consciousness.
- During the casting process, it was Sammo Hung Kam-bo who suggested that the director try Jackie Chan for one of the roles. The role Jackie eventually received was originally intended for a Korean actor, but John Woo decided he was too old and slow, so he fired him and cast Chan. At the time, Jackie was working as a stuntman and occasionally taking on random roles to get by.
- In addition to playing the role of the young Tang Feng, Jackie Chan also participated in the film as an experienced stunt coordinator and provided guidance to the novice director John Woo.
