Short description

Paulie, a talking parrot, recounts his travels looking for his original owner to a Russian janitor who helps him to the end of his journey.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Boon Nar, responsible for staging the scenes with birds, organized seven auditions with the involvement of 38 birds. Blue-crowned Conures proved the most suitable, and 14 of these parrots were used in the filming. For those scenes deemed too complex or dangerous, Stan Winston Studio specifically created an animatronic parrot model.
  • Filming period: July 14 – October 2, 1997.
  • Well-known American comedian Buddy Hackett auditioned to voice the parrot Polly, but the producers ultimately preferred Jay Mohr. As compensation, he received a relatively small role as Artie, which became his last appearance on the big screen.
