Short description

Nanny McPhee appears at the door of a harried young mother who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war. But once she’s arrived, Nanny discovers that the children are fighting a war of their own against two spoiled city cousins who have just moved in. Relying on everything from a flying motorcycle and a statue that comes to life to a tree-climbing piglet and a baby elephant, Nanny uses her magic to teach her mischievous charges five new lessons.

What's left behind the scenes

Emma Thompson began working on the screenplay as early as spring 2007.
The village scenes were filmed in the small village of Gampden in southern Buckinghamshire, which is a very popular filming location. The main set for the farm itself was located in the village of Hascombe, Surrey. The Senate House—the main administrative building of the University of London—was used as the Ministry of War in the film.
The motorcycle with a sidecar in the film is a 350cc Ariel W/NG. This model was widely used by the British Army during World War II.
