What's left behind the scenes

This is director David F. Sandberg's debut in feature filmmaking. His identically named 2013 short film gained a wide audience and very flattering reviews online, and Sandberg decided to rework it into a full-length feature.
David F. Sandberg focused on traditional special effects and tried to minimize the use of computer graphics.
The mannequins in the basement were not brought in specifically for filming. They are the property of the homeowner and were already there.
The film's production costs were recouped on the first day of release.
Filming took place in the same house where "Ouija: Origin of Evil" (Stiles White, 2014) and "Ouija: The Curse of the Board" (Mike Flanagan, 2016) were filmed.
Writer and director David F. Sandberg utilized natural lighting whenever possible. Some scenes were shot exclusively using candlelight or fluorescent lamps.
