Short description

A group of Iraq War veterans goes on the run from U.S. military forces while they try to clear their names after being framed for a crime they didn't commit. Along the way, Col. Hannibal Smith, Capt. H.M. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock , Sgt. Bosco ‘B.A.’ Baracus, and Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck help out various people they encounter.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Bruce Willis was considered for the role of Hannibal Smith.
  • Woody Harrelson and Ryan Reynolds were considered for the role of Murdock.
  • Amber Heard and Olga Kurylenko were considered for the role of Lieutenant Sosa.
  • When John Singleton was still a leading candidate to direct, he planned to cast Ice Cube as Bosco Baracus.
  • Since Quinton Jackson was an athlete before filming the movie, he had to retire from sports to star in it.
  • Carnahan convinced the former smoker Neeson to smoke real cigars for the role of Hannibal.
  • After the end credits, two short scenes are shown featuring actors from the original series: Dwight Schultz (Murdoch) and Dirk Benedict (Face).
  • In the original 1980s series, the main characters were Vietnam War veterans.
  • Joe Carnahan himself appears briefly in the frame in a scene at the beginning of the film, when he tells Smith the helicopter call sign at the hospital.
  • Before Murdoch's escape, when he instructs Howard to distribute glasses, Howard is not wearing any. Then there's a shot of him wearing glasses, followed by a shot of him not wearing them again.
  • When Mercedes and Carisa try to drive away as the C-130 is taking off, the reverse lights are on, followed by a shot from the airplane's cockpit, then back to the rear of the Mercedes, but the reverse lights are no longer illuminated.
  • Jessica Biel's character shoots out the left tire, but then the punctured right tire is shown twice.
  • The private military company "Blackwater," known for its brutality, served as the prototype for "Black Forest."
  • During the court scene, a nameplate with the surname is clearly visible on the military investigator's chest on the right side, bearing the name "Carnahan" in honor of the film's director.
  • The ship shown at the end of the film is called "Die Vergeltung" – "Retribution" in German.
  • When showing the US European Command building in Stuttgart, a VAZ-2108 is parked nearby, and a BMW 7 Series with a Russian flag number plate "a005ae" drives past.
