Short description

In Athens a collection of emeralds is successfully stolen by a team of robbers, led by safe-cracker Azad. Things go smoothly until they miss the ship by which they planned their escape; a police chief pursues Azad while he waits for the next ship to set off.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The car chase scene was filmed within the framework of actual traffic. City authorities gave the film crew the opportunity to control traffic using traffic lights at their discretion. According to stuntman and stunt coordinator Rémy Julienne (1930-2021), the police allowed the filmmakers to drive at any speed they needed, but the filmmakers did not “abuse” this permission.
  • The film was shot with one cast, but in two languages – French and English.
  • Jean-Paul Belmondo (1933-2021) wanted to perform all the stunt scenes himself, but he was in the United States during the filming of the car chase.
