Short description

A newly-released prison gangster is forced by the leaders of his gang to orchestrate a major crime with a brutal rival gang on the streets of Southern California.

What's left behind the scenes

Volyn, played by Jon Bernthal, has a "PEN1" tattoo on his neck. It stands for "Enemy of the State No. 1." A street gang with that name operates in Orange County, California.
Filming took place in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and New Mexico.
To write the script, director Rick Roman Waugh researched prison gangs, posing as a police agent working undercover as a recently paroled criminal. This helped him gather authentic material about inmates and prison guards.
