Short description
Identical 9-year-olds from very different backgrounds: orphaned Amanda and wealthy Alyssa meet at summer camp and decide to switch places -- and play matchmaker between Alyssa's dad, Roger, and the kind social worker who cares for Amanda.
What's left behind the scenes
- Roger hit his head on a tree (while saving Diana) on the right side, but Diana later put a bandage on the opposite side.
- Director Andy Tennant wanted Winona Ryder to play the role of Diane, which was eventually played by Kirsty Alley. However, the film company “Rysher Entertainment” decided that Ryder looked too young and suggested Julia Louis-Dreyfus to the director, but she was unavailable due to filming commitments for the series “Seinfeld” (1989-1998).
- Many plot lines are borrowed from Mark Twain's historical novel “The Prince and the Pauper” (1881).
