What's left behind the scenes

When Pedersen visited the headmistress, she was making entries in a register with a barcode on the cover. Barcodes began to be used on products in 1974 and were hardly used in Norway during the time period in which the film is set.
During Pedersen's first visit to the library, he looks at the bookshelves. One of the books has 'Boris Yeltsin' written in bold letters, 25 years before he came to power.
In at least two scenes, Pedersen walks up a steep slope in Larvik. A cargo ship with the 'Colorline' logo is clearly visible in the harbor behind him. This company was founded only 20 years after the time period in which the film is set.
In the film, Pedersen's wife leaves for the northern town of Mo i Rana, whereas in the novel, she goes to the town of Harstad. The director explained that this change was made because she was a librarian, and the National Library of Norway has a branch in Mo i Rana. However, the film is set in the 70s, and the National Library in Mo i Rana was established in 1989.
The film is based on the novel by Dag Solstad, 'The Grammar of the Gymnasiums Teacher Pedersen's Account of the Great Political Awakening Which Our Country Was Granted,' first published in 1982.
