What's left behind the scenes
- The civilization of the tribe shown in the film is inspired by the civilization of the Sami people, who live in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia.
- In the forest scene, while Kristoff sings 'Lost in the Woods' and contemplates how to propose to Anna, there is a reference to the opening scene of Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' music video.
- Olaf claims that turtles "breathe through their butts." This refers to a real phenomenon known as "cloacal respiration." It has been observed in some species of turtles – for example, painted turtles, alligator snapping turtles, and Fitzroy River turtles.
- Young Iduna asks young Agnarr what he is reading, and hears in reply: “Something by a Dane.” The author of 'The Snow Queen,' the fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875), was Danish.

- The symbol of the large snowflake seems somewhat off because it lacks "hexagonal symmetry." In reality, it is the Icelandic runic compass vegvísir – an Icelandic magical staff designed to help its owner find their way in harsh weather.
