When Krisha returns to her estranged family for Thanksgiving dinner, past demons threaten to ruin the festivities.
What's left behind the scenes
- Almost all the relatives in the film are indeed members of one family, while professional actors play only a few of the characters.
- Filming for the movie took 9 days.
- Billy Fairchild, who played the role of the Grandmother, actually suffers from Alzheimer's disease, so she did not always or fully understand that she was being filmed. Director Trey Edward Schulz claims that Fairchild was genuinely happy during the filming of the Thanksgiving scenes.
- The entire film was shot in the home of director Trey Edward Schulz's mother in Houston.
- The image of the main character is based on Nisa, the cousin of director Trey Edward Schulz and the niece of Keisha Fairchild. Nisa tried to overcome her drug addiction, but she used drugs during a family celebration, gave up on all her previous attempts to start a new life, and soon died of an overdose.
- Krisha is missing a finger phalanx, a fact that is never explained in the film. Actress Krisha Fairchild lost it while trying to break up a dog fight shortly before filming began. Fairchild even considered dropping out of the production, but ultimately changed her mind.
