Short description
Carpathian Count Alucard is invited to the U.S. by a young heiress. Her boyfriend and local officials are suspicious of the newcomer, who is interested in the "virile" soil of the new world.
What's left behind the scenes
- This film was the first to show a bat transforming into a human. The effect was created by special effects master John P. Fulton. Fulton was Universal's chief special effects artist starting with the 1933 film 'The Invisible Man'.
- The film was the first to use the reversed spelling of the name Dracula – Alucard. This change was subsequently repeatedly used when naming characters in vampire works.
