Upon the death of their estranged father, three sisters invite their 13-year-old half sister to live with them.
What's left behind the scenes
- Before filming began, the four actresses playing the main roles spent an entire day together in a house. They cleaned, weeded the garden, cooked and ate together. They even repaired a shoji screen, which director Hirokazu Kore-eda liked so much that he wrote a scene with it into the script.
