Short description

A big-city cop is reassigned to the country after his superiors find him too angry to be an effective policeman. While on his temporary assignment he assists in a manhunt of a suspected murderer.

What's left behind the scenes

  • After the film's release, RKO remained at a loss of $450,000, which was a very large sum at the time.
  • The screenplay for the film was based on Gerald Butler's novel "The Big Hearted" (1945).
  • After the film was completed, it was shelved for two years, which was common practice for RKO under Howard Hughes. In addition, at Hughes' insistence, 10 minutes were cut from the film.
