Short description
Based on the true story of two young men, David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli, who won a $300 million contract from the Pentagon to arm America's allies in Afghanistan.
What's left behind the scenes
- The arms manufacturers' forum in Las Vegas, attended by David and Ephraim, is a fictional creation of the film's authors, but it has real-life counterparts. SHOT Show – the world's largest exhibition of hunting and shooting sports equipment – is held annually (usually in January) and lasts four days, in recent years in Las Vegas. Tanks, rockets, and other military equipment shown in the film were filmed at IDEX – an international arms and military equipment exhibition held every two years in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
- The International Hotel, where David, played by Miles Teller, is sitting, is not located in Albania, but in the center of Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
- The events taking place in the plot in Albania were filmed in Romania. Even the workers in the warehouse in one of the scenes speak Romanian.
- Jonah Hill and his character Ephraim Diveroli were both born on December 20th.
- David Pakouz is 4 years older than Efraim Diveroli. In reality, Miles Teller is 4 years younger than Jonah Hill.
- The first film directed by Todd Phillips not featuring Matt Walsh.
- Initially, Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LaBeouf were chosen for the lead roles.

- For security reasons, the film was referred to as 'AK-47' during filming in Miami.
- The role of Iz is played by Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas. Her surname means 'weapons' in Spanish.
- In 2016, Efraim Diveroli sued Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., director Todd Phillips, producer Bradley Cooper, and several others. The lawsuit demanded a ban on the film's release. The plaintiff claimed that the film was based on his self-published memoir, 'Once A Gun Runner'.
- The image of the sunset on the beach that Efraim hangs on the wall in his office is another reference to 'Scarface' (Brian De Palma, 1983). The same landscape was painted on the wall in Frank Lopez’s office.
- The film is based on true events.
