Short description
He's Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. The Ace is on the case to find the Miami Dolphins' missing mascot and quarterback Dan Marino. He goes eyeball to eyeball with a man-eating shark, stakes out the Miami Dolphins and woos and wows the ladies. Whether he's undercover, under fire or underwater, he always gets his man… or beast!

- While investigating the tank where Snowball was once held, Ace parodies Captain Kirk, a character from the television series "Star Trek" (1966-1969).
- Ronald Kamp's party was filmed at the famous Vizcaya Villa.
- When Ace is attacked by Einhorn, he says, “I confess, I was the second gunman on the grassy knoll.” This is a reference to the conspiracy theory surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy, which suggests the existence of a second shooter who fired at the American president.
- The name of the mental institution, “Shady Acres,” was derived from the surname of director Tom Shadyac.
- In the scene where Lieutenant Einhorn kicks a football through a hole in the roof, it was a kicker for the Miami Dolphins, Peter Stoyanovich, disguised in a skirt and high heels who performed the role.
- The image of Ace the monkey, a capuchin named Spike, was used as an unofficial mascot for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball club.
- The band playing at the club is “Cannibal Corpse,” a real existing band that Jim Carrey is a fan of.
- On September 5, 2006, "Warner Brothers" released the DVD version of the film, which included some scenes that had been originally cut: While investigating Snowball’s tank, Ace introduces himself to journalists as Heinz Getwellvet, a professional dolphin trainer from Germany. During a Cannibal Corpse concert, Ace goes on stage and sings along with Chris Barnes. In Tampa, Ray Finkle’s hometown, Ace visits not only the villain’s parents but also a local bar. From the mental hospital, Ace calls his friend Emilio and tells him about Finkle’s connection to Einhorn. After visiting the hospital, Ace drives Melissa home. Ace visits Woodstock a second time and, together with him, tries to establish a connection between Finkle and Einhorn by studying their credit reports. At the end of the film, during the final fight, Snowball, on Ace’s command, takes the gun from Einhorn. Ace asks Snowball to give him the gun, but the dolphin returns it to Einhorn.
