Short description

Coming out from jail, Lucas has decided to change his life and behave like a good citizen. But when he is taken hostage in a bank by a hare-brained robber, no cops can believe he is not part of the action.

This is the fourth film directed by Francis Weber, and also his fourth and final collaborative project with Pierre Richard.
Michel Blanc filmed an uncredited cameo as Dr. Gilbert.
"The Fugitives" drew 4,496,827 viewers in cinemas, becoming the sixth most popular film in France in 1986.
Location shooting took place in the cities of Bordeaux and Mo.
This is the third and final film in the comedic trilogy starring Pierre Richard and Gérard Depardieu. The actors also starred together in "The Fugitive" (1981) and "Les Compères" (1983).
After this film, Francis Veber and Gérard Depardieu suspended their collaboration, resuming it only 15 years later in the comedy "Chameleon" (2001).
In 1989, Francis Veber directed a Hollywood remake of this film titled "Three Fugitives" starring Nick Nolte and Martin Short. Notably, two years later, Martin Short would again star in a remake of another Veber film, "The Fugitive," again playing the role originally performed by Pierre Richard.
This is not the first time Pierre Richard has filmed with Jean Carmet, who played the veterinarian in the film. The actors had previously appeared together in films such as "Idiot in Paris" (1967), "Lucky Alexander" (1968), "The Adventures of Alfred" (1972), "Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe" (1972), "Return of the Tall Blond Man" (1974), and "It's Not Enough" (1975). Jean Carmet had also previously appeared with Gérard Depardieu on screen several times: "Gaspar" (1973), "René the Rooster" (1976), "Sugar" (1978), and "Cold Cuts" (1979).
This is the fourth joint project by director Francis Weber and composer Vladimir Cosma. Previously, they collaborated on "The Toy" (1976), "The Fugitives" (1981), and "Dads" (1983).
