Short description
Johnny Kovak joins the Teamsters trade-union in a local chapter in the 1930s and works his way up in the organization. As he climbs higher and higher his methods become more ruthless and finally senator Madison starts a campaign to find the truth about the alleged connections with the Mob.
What's left behind the scenes
- One of the reasons Dubuque County was chosen for filming was the absence of television antennas there, which was necessary to depict the 1930s, the period in which the plot unfolds.
- The film was shot in Dubuque County, Iowa.
- A loose adaptation of the story of union leader Jimmy Hoffa (1913-1975). In 1992, the biopic "Hoffa" (Danny DeVito) was released, with Jack Nicholson playing the main role.
