Short description

When a young writer is falsely accused of murdering a famous actress, he escapes custody and joins forces with the daughter of a police constable to prove his innocence.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Alfred Hitchcock makes a cameo appearance as a reporter standing near the courthouse.
  • It is believed that the film's literary source was a novel by Josephine Tey (1896-1952). Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980) and other screenwriters used approximately one-third of the novel and changed the identity of the murderer.
  • The film was released in the United States under the title "The Girl Was Young".
