- This is the eighth collaboration between actress Frances McDormand and Joel and Ethan Coen. Frances is married to Joel Coen.
- This is the third joint work of actors Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes. They have previously starred together in "The Grand Budapest Hotel" (2014) and "A Bigger Splash" (2015).

- This is the first film since “True Grit” (2010) that cinematographer Roger Deakins shot for directors Joel and Ethan Coen on 35mm film. After that film, Deakins switched to digital and shot the following five films with the “Arri Alexa” camera. For “Hail, Caesar!”, he returned to working with film because the Coens dislike the digital image. Additionally, they felt it would be more appropriate to shoot a film about 1950s Hollywood on film.

- This is the second collaboration between actors Christopher Lambert and Clancy Brown. Their first joint film was "Highlander" (1986).

- Josh Brolin and Christopher Lambert appeared together in "The Road to Wellville" (1993). After completing the film, Lambert divorced Diane Lane, who married Brolin in 2004. Lane and Brolin divorced before filming began on "Hail, Caesar!"
- Scarlett Johansson plays an actress who becomes pregnant right before the start of filming. The same thing happened to Johansson in real life. She found out she was pregnant a couple of weeks before the start of filming 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' (2015).
