Short description

In 1870s America, a peaceful American settler kills his family's murderer which unleashes the fury of a notorious gang leader. His cowardly fellow townspeople then betray him, forcing him to hunt down the outlaws alone.

What's left behind the scenes

The film sets were built from scratch in South Africa. Shortly before the end of filming, the set with the city completely burned down.
The role of John's brother, Peter, was originally intended for Mads Mikkelsen’s brother – Lars Mikkelsen. When he left the project, Mads Mikkelsen suggested Mikael Persbrandt for the role.
