Short description

Waxman is a former Special Forces soldier who is now working as a heavily armed assassin for a top secret government agency. When a covert mission goes terribly wrong, Waxman and fellow assassin Clegg become that agency's prime targets.

What's left behind the scenes

Lundgren underwent special training in handling the armor-piercing rifle featured in the film. According to the instructor, Dolph showed excellent results during the training.
The original plot involved a sniper (Lundgren) being contracted to kill a tough police officer (Brandon Lee), after which they were supposed to team up against a common enemy. Brandon signed a contract and was going to start filming after completing work on 'The Crow' (1994), but due to well-known tragic circumstances, this did not happen. As a result, the script was rewritten.
During filming, a one-and-a-half-meter scale model of the building where the characters of Bellman and Lundgren are located according to the plot was used.
Writer Sergio Alteri later wrote a series of three novels titled «The Sniper» (published in Italy) based on his screenplay and character.
The original title of the film was «Algonquin Goodbye», an ironic reference to the Algonquin Hotel in New York.
