Short description
Francis, a young man, recalls in his memory the horrible experiences he and his fiancée Jane recently went through. Francis and his friend Alan visit The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, an exhibit where the mysterious doctor shows the somnambulist Cesare, and awakens him for some moments from his death-like sleep.

- Initially, Fritz Lang was supposed to direct the film, but he was busy with another project by the time filming began. However, it was Lang who came up with the idea of framing the film's plot with scenes in an insane asylum, thereby radically changing its interpretation.
