Short description

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a patient named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

The film's title is a variation on a quote from William Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" (Act I, Scene II): "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves..." (in Russian translation: "It is not our fate – we ourselves are to blame for our enslavement...").
When Gus reads the letter he wrote to Hazel, he says words different from those written in the letter. This can be noticed when the letter briefly appears in the frame.
