Short description
Alexander's day begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by more calamities. Though he finds little sympathy from his family and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him, his mom, dad, brother, and sister all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

- When Alexander's teacher chooses countries for an assignment, he points to them on a globe. The third time he does this, he names Lebanon, while pointing somewhere in the area of Alaska, the Bering Strait, or Eastern Russia.
- Over 500 boys auditioned for the role of Alexander.
- Lisa Cholodenko could have directed the film, but she left the project in February 2013.
- Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner both attended Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Carell graduated in 1984, and Garner in 1994.
