Short description

A romantic drama set in Germany just before WWI and centered on a married woman who falls in love with her husband's teacher. Separated by the war, they pledge their devotion to one another.

What's left behind the scenes

At the 38-39 minute mark of the film, Otto lists the capitals of European states and says, in particular, "Finland – Helsinki". However, Zeitz, apparently distracted by Frau Hofmeister, does not correct the boy for the obvious error: the action takes place in 1914, when Finland was still part of the Russian Empire, although it had quite broad autonomy, like Poland, for example.
