Short description

When his only friend dies, a man born with dwarfism moves to rural New Jersey to live a life of solitude, only to meet a chatty hot dog vendor and a woman dealing with her own personal loss.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Peter Dinklage is a vegetarian. The beef jerky his character eats in the film was made from tofu.
  • Joe is reading Erich Maria Remarque's (1898-1970) novel "All Quiet on the Western Front" (1929).
  • The Newfoundland Station in New Jersey, where the film was shot, is still visited by many tourists.
  • The film's budget was so meager that Patricia Clarkson was forced to live in a trailer during filming, which had previously been used to transport horses.
