Short description
When an alien race and factions within Starfleet attempt to take over a planet that has "regenerative" properties, it falls upon Captain Picard and the crew of the Enterprise to defend the planet's people as well as the very ideals upon which the Federation itself was founded.

- The first film in the "Star Trek" universe where all shots of outer space were created using computer technology.
- The film takes place in the year 2375.
- Initially, it was planned that Captain Picard would kill Data, and the actor who played the second officer, Brent Spiner, fully supported this version. Patrick Stewart, who played the captain, however, strongly opposed it.
