Short description

An ambitious reporter gets in trouble while investigating a senator's assassination which leads to a vast conspiracy involving a multinational corporation behind every event in the world's headlines.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The assassination of Robert F. Kennedy served as a source of inspiration for this story.
  • Parallax refers to the change in the apparent position of an object relative to a distant background, depending on the position of the observer. An example is how two people standing at some distance from each other see the same tree differently. The theme of the film is the idea that the same subject or phenomenon can be viewed in different ways. Coincidentally, this very assertion is demonstrated by the murder scene at the beginning of the film. The camera on the roof is positioned in such a way that it seems as if the killer on the roof is falling, but then it becomes clear that this is not the case.
  • Filming began while the script was still unfinished, due to the tight shooting schedule of Warren Beatty, who played the lead role.
