Short description

Charts the troubled teenage years of students Yūichi Hasumi and Shūsuke Hoshino, exploring the shifting and complex power dynamics of their relationship against the backdrop of Yūichi's love for the dreamy and abstract music of fictional pop star Lily Chou-Chou.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The idea for the film about rock star Lili Chou-Chou was inspired by the image of Chinese singer and actress Fei Wong.
  • Ayumi Ito (who played Yoko) specifically learned to play the piano in order to perform in the film without a body double. She even set Claude Debussy's "Arabesque No. 1" as her ringtone.
  • Ayumi Ito actually cut her hair for the role.
  • At one point, someone mentions that the mother of Shugo Oshinari's character resembles Izumi Inamori. This character is indeed played by Inamori.
