Short description
Trainees in the FBI's psychological profiling program must put their training into practice when they discover a killer in their midst. Based very loosely on Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None.
What's left behind the scenes
- 450 visual effects were specifically prepared for the film in London. 10 artists worked on them for nine months.
- At the 6th minute of the film, when JD kicks in the front door, the glass in its lower left section shatters from the impact. When the door swings open in the next shot and Reston enters the room, the glass in that segment is intact.
- At the 63rd minute of the film, when the agents' blood vials are placed into the analyzer, it can be noticed that the vial with Gabe's name is placed fourth. In one of the following scenes, when Nicole enters the data into the computer, she lists Lucas as fourth, and Gabe's name appears fifth on the list.
- At the 25th minute of the film, when Nicole sneaks up on JD in the shower and grabs his arm, there is nothing on her wrist. When they start kissing, a pink hair tie appears on her wrist in one of the shots.
- At the 35th minute of the film, when the explosives planted on the boat and the pier go off, it can be noticed that all the actors in this scene are replaced by stunt doubles.
- At the 7th minute of the film, JD and Sarah enter the basement and see a girl's corpse in the bathtub with a mannequin sitting opposite her. When Sarah contacts the base via radio after inspecting the crime scene, it can be noticed that a cap appears on the mannequin's head in one of the shots.
- At the 33rd minute of the film, as the agents carry Reston's remains on a stretcher, it can be seen that Nicole and Gabe have weapons in their hands. It is unclear how they acquired them, as they arrived on the island unarmed and do not break into the armory until the 37th minute of the film.
- At the 65th minute of the film, Nicole pushes Sarah into a glass door and then throws her to the floor. At the moment of the push, it can be noticed that Sarah is leaning against a transparent film stretched in front of the door, and the crack from the impact appears on the other side of the glass. Furthermore, during the fall to the floor, it can be seen that actress Catherine Morris is replaced by a stunt double.
- At the 55th minute of the film, while Gabe is climbing the wall, Vince is hanging, holding onto a pipe under the ceiling. In one of the shots, it can be noticed that Vince is hanging significantly lower and is holding onto a coil by the wall with one hand, while actor Clifton Collins Jr. is actually hanging from thin wires.
- Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon, Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen, and Gary Busey were invited to participate in the film.
- At the 28th minute of the film, the camera operator can be seen in the reflection of a rotating security camera.
- Several endings were filmed for the movie. The final version was decided upon only after test screenings.
- At the 3-minute mark of the film, while JD and Sarah are driving down a forest road, a member of the film crew can be seen standing among the trees on the right side of the frame.
- At the 97th minute of the film, during one of Lucas's shots at Sarah, a diver can be seen in the lower-left corner of the screen, providing safety for the actors in the underwater scene.
- Slater plays a character named J. D., the same name as his character in 'Fatal Attraction' (1988).
- At the 7-minute mark of the film, when Sarah and JD see the body of a suicide victim, he is sitting sideways to them. When Sarah reports the situation over the radio, it can be noticed that the body is already facing them.
- At the 18th minute of the film, as the FBI agents walk toward the headquarters building, crew members repeatedly appear in the frame: when Harris tells the agents about the liquid nitrogen containers surrounding them, two outsiders can be seen in the left part of the frame behind a small building; when the group approaches the building entrance, a sound engineer with equipment is clearly visible in the right part of the frame from a top-down angle; and just before the scene ends, another crew member appears on the left side of the frame.
- At the 19th minute of the film, Harris notices rubber ducks floating scattered in the water. After a cut, the ducks are barely moving and are much closer to each other.
- James Greenleaf, a real FBI agent, served as a consultant.
- At the 12-minute mark of the film, while Jake is conducting a briefing, a spelling error in the name of the island where the cadets are to train can be seen on the screen behind him. In the text on the left side of the screen, the island is called Oneiga, while on the map to the right, it is Oniega.
- In the scenes at the end of the film featuring the character Vince (his attempt to find cartridges for the pistol), the pistol in Vince's hands mysteriously changes in each subsequent frame—from a Beretta 9mm to a Glock 17 and back again.
- At the 77-minute mark of the film, when Sarah, Lucas, and Gabe approach the toy store, the lights are on in the store windows. When they enter in the next shot, the store is already in complete darkness.
- At the 35th minute of the film, as the cadets descend the hill toward the pier, a member of the film crew can be seen standing at the entrance to the platform.
- At the 80th minute of the film, during the shootout between Sarah, Gabe, and Lucas, several bullets hit the side of a bus parked on the street without leaving a single mark on the body. When Sarah makes her way inside the bus in a subsequent scene and Gabe follows her through the door, it can be noticed that there are no bullet holes inside the cabin either.
- At the 36th minute of the film, when Lucas catches the drowning Sarah underwater, it is visible that a wooden splinter has pierced his shoulder through his sweater. When he pulls Sarah ashore in the next scene, the splinter is now stuck in his jacket.
- At the 17-minute mark of the film, the agents pass by a shot female mannequin. When the shot changes, they pass by the same mannequin once more. Also, as they pass by the bus, a mannequin standing in front of the cabin is facing the group; in one of the following shots, this mannequin is already turned toward the school bus.
- At the 20th minute of the film, Bobby begins speed-solving a Rubik's Cube, and there is a plate of chips on the table in front of him. Throughout the subsequent scene, while he solves the cube and the other agents talk among themselves, the plate appears and disappears between cuts.
- At the 99th minute of the film, Sarah kills Lucas with a shot to the head, and he begins to fall sideways into the pool. After a cut, he is falling face-down into the pool and turns his head to the side just before hitting the water.
- At the 15-minute mark of the film, while Vince is drawing on a piece of paper, it can be noticed that he is merely moving the pen without making any marks.
- At the 26th minute of the film, Bobby is reading a book by someone named M. J. Gordy. When he stands on the bed in the next scene to fix a lamp fuse, it can be noticed that a completely different book is already lying on the bedside table.
