Short description
From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite G.I. JOE team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization to prevent them from plunging the world into chaos.
What's left behind the scenes
- Skip Woods wrote an early version of the script featuring Alex Mann and his wife Scarlett. Ryan was intended to be the main villain.
- The film was shot almost without a script, and the director had to come up with everything on the fly due to the tight deadlines the studio allocated for filming.
- To prepare for the role of the Baroness, Sienna Miller trained intensely for four months, gaining five pounds (about two kilograms) of muscle mass.
- Initially, Lorenzo di Bonaventura wanted Mark Wahlberg to play Duke.
- Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, friends in real life, played sworn enemies – Duke and Cobra Commander.
- Common was offered the role of Roadblock, Heavy Duty's cousin, but he declined. Subsequently, the roles of Heavy Duty and his cousin were rewritten and merged into a single character.
- Dennis Quaid agreed to play General Hawk at the insistence of his son, who is a big fan of G.I. Joe.
