Short description
Sixteen-year-old Poppy has everything her unlimited credit cards can buy, and a spoiled attitude to match. After a final thoughtless prank, her exasperated father ships her off to boarding school in England. There, Poppy meets her match in a stern headmistress and a class full of girls who will not tolerate her selfishness.

- During the final break in the lacrosse championship match, students from "Abbey Mount" school perform a slightly modified dance – a Māori ritual dance, popularized by the New Zealand rugby team, the "All Blacks". The first New Zealand rugby team to play abroad in the late 19th century performed the haka before a match against the Australian team in an attempt to intimidate their opponents. The dance performed by the girls included some aggressive elements from the current "All Blacks" repertoire: a stance with slightly bent knees and arms crossed, clenched into fists; sticking out the tongue and shouting towards the opposing team; hitting oneself on the elbows, hips, and chest; and dropping to one knee, supporting oneself on a clenched fist with a menacing expression.
- Harriet copies Keira Knightley’s attire as Elizabeth Bennet from Joe Wright’s "Pride & Prejudice" (2005). The melody played by Mr. Nellist is called "Dawn". It was composed by Dario Marianelli, who wrote the score for "Pride & Prejudice". While Harriet contemplates what to wear in her bedroom, scenes from that film are shown on screen.
- The date between Poppy and Freddie, played by Emma Roberts and Alex Pettyfer, is accompanied by "Chasing Pavements", a 2008 hit by Adele.
