Short description
When Lenny and his wife, Amanda, adopt a baby, Lenny realizes that his son is a genius and becomes obsessed with finding the boy's biological mother in hopes that she will be brilliant too. But when he learns that Max's mother is Linda Ash, a kindhearted prostitute and porn star, Lenny is determined to reform her immoral lifestyle. A Greek chorus chimes in to relate the plot to Greek mythology in this quirky comedy.
What's left behind the scenes
- In reality, Mira Sorvino graduated from Harvard with honors. She speaks French and Chinese quite well.
- Allen found it very difficult to direct Helen Bonham Carter, and many scenes with her were cut during editing.
- Mira Sorvino tried to get a role in this film while in New York, but she was turned down. When the screenwriter and director (who also played the lead role) Woody Allen went to London to look at British actresses, Sorvino showed up there in full costume as the character, and this time she got the part.
