Short description
On Christmas Eve, divorced dad Scott Calvin and his son discover Santa Claus has fallen off their roof. When Scott takes the reins of the magical sleigh, he finds he is now the new Santa, and must convince a world of disbelievers, including himself.
What's left behind the scenes
- The dance performed by Tim Allen before the second Christmas was completely improvised. It was filmed in one take, and the director liked it so much that the dance was left in the film.
- Tim Allen has had past legal troubles; Disney has a policy of not hiring former convicts, but in Allen's case, an exception was made.
- The role of Scott Calvin was written for Bill Murray. He reviewed the script but declined the offer to star in the film.
- At the 32nd minute of the film, one can notice a reference to the sitcom "Home Improvement." Tim Allen's character picks up a carpenter's set, similar to the one he used in the show "Last Man Standing."
