Short description

Desperate to escape his mind-numbing routine, uptown Manhattan office worker Paul Hackett ventures downtown for a hookup with a mystery woman.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The script was written as an assignment for a class by Joseph Minion, a film student at Columbia University.
  • Scorsese advised Griffin Dunne not to sleep or have sex during filming to achieve the necessary level of tension.
  • Martin Scorsese couldn't come up with a suitable ending for the film, so he asked Brian De Palma, Steven Spielberg, and Terry Gilliam to watch the film and give their opinion on how it should end.
