Short description

Residents of a coastal town learn, with deadly consequences, the secret shared by the two mysterious women who have sought refuge at a local boarding house, the Byzantium.

What's left behind the scenes

Gemma Arterton suggested Saoirse Ronan for the role of Eleanor because she was impressed by her performance in "Hanna."
Before filming began, Saoirse Ronan took piano lessons for 12 weeks, and she genuinely played a complex Beethoven sonata on camera. The actress practiced on a rented grand piano for two hours a day.
The ancient temple was filmed on the rocky island of Skellig Michael, near the coast of Ireland. It was also used to film Luke Skywalker's hideaway in J.J. Abrams’s science fiction films “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (2015) and Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” (2017).
