Short description
With the world now aware of his dual life as the armored superhero Iron Man, billionaire inventor Tony Stark faces pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military. Unwilling to let go of his invention, Stark, with Pepper Potts and James 'Rhodey' Rhodes at his side, must forge new alliances – and confront powerful enemies.
What's left behind the scenes
- After the end credits, one can notice an attribute of another Marvel Universe character – Thor's hammer.
- At the 8th minute of the film, while Tony is speaking at the expo, he is wearing a white shirt and a bow tie. When he goes backstage at the 10th minute to have his blood analyzed, he is already wearing a black shirt without a tie.
- Robert Downey Jr. recommended Justin Theroux to Jon Favreau as the film's screenwriter.
- At the end of the film, when the senator poses for a photo between Tony and Rhodey, Tony places his hand on the senator's back. In the next shot, Tony's hand is gone, and then it reappears.
- Scarlett Johansson wanted the role of Black Widow so much that she dyed her hair red, even before she was cast.
- The soundtrack to the first part of the film was mainly written by Ramin Djawadi, a German of Iranian origin. In the sequel, however, Favreau completely changed his approach to the score. This time it included songs by the legendary Australians AC/DC, in particular the compositions Shoot to thrill, Back in Black, T.N.T, Highway to Hell and Thunderstruck.
- At the 37th minute of the film, Ivan Vanko is holding Iron Man with a whip in his right hand. When the angle changes in the next shot, Vanko is already holding the whip in his left hand.
- The first sequel directed by and starring Jon Favreau.
- Mickey Rourke suggested that his character partially speak Russian.
- At the 8th minute of the film, Tony speaks about peace from the stage, standing in a relaxed pose. In the next shot, he is already standing with his hands behind his back.

- Whiplash (Mickey Rourke), as portrayed in the film, is a combination of two Iron Man villains – Whiplash, who wields a special whip, and Crimson Dynamo, who wears armor controlling electricity.
- At the 11th minute of the film, as Tony gets into the convertible, the female marshal is holding the subpoena in her left hand. In the next shot, she hands the subpoena to Happy with her right hand.
- At the 29th minute of the film, Hammer places a glass of juice on the table with his left hand before sitting down. In the next shot, he sits at the table holding the glass in his right hand.
- At the 23rd minute of the film, when Ivan Vanko examines his fake passport in an alley, an error can be seen in the document: the 'Nationality' field is listed as 'Russian' (in the feminine form 'Русская').
- At the 29th minute of the film, when Tony puts his finger in his mouth after the blood analysis, it can be noticed that his reflection in the mirror does so noticeably earlier.
- In the box of Tony Stark's father's belongings, received from Nick Fury, one can notice a real issue of the 'Captain America' comic book that was released in the post-war period.
- Rourke very much wanted to humanize his villain, so that he would not be one-sided, so director Jon Favreau "allowed" Vanko to keep a cockatoo in his prison cell.
- At the beginning of the film, several shots are shown of a Moscow courtyard, and parked along the road nearby is a car with Russian license plates containing the English letters "w" and "s".
- Sam Rockwell, who played Justin Hammer, was considered for the role of Tony Stark in the first installment.
- In one of the scenes, you can notice a dossier on Tony Stark, which states that he was born on May 29, 1970, knows English, Spanish, Italian and Afghan-Persian Dari, and graduated from Phillips Academy and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

- The design of Vanko's whips was inspired by the lightsabers of the Jedi from 'Star Wars'.
- At the 26th minute of the film, when Natalie performs a leg takedown and knocks Happy onto the ring canvas, it can be noticed that Scarlett Johansson and Jon Favreau are replaced by stunt doubles in one of the shots.
- Johansson drew inspiration from Greta Garbo's performance in 'Ninotchka' (1939) and Barbara Bach's in 'The Spy Who Loved Me'.
- The first sequel produced by Marvel Studios.
- Samuel L. Jackson, having appeared in the first film as Nick Fury, signed a unique deal with Marvel Studios before filming began on the second installment, stipulating that he would appear in nine films as Nick.
- According to Don Cheadle, he tried to play Rhodey his own way, however, in the end, he copied most of the image from Terrence Howard.
