Short description

Brothers John and Matt have inherited an island cabin from their recently deceased uncle. Along with Matt's girlfriend, Nicki, and other mutual friends, the siblings travel to the cabin for a relaxing weekend getaway. But, not long after arriving, the group is besieged by ravenous dogs. They watch in horror as another vacationer, Luke, is eaten alive. Soon, they discover a training facility where the dogs have been bred to kill.

What's left behind the scenes

The making of the film involved 29 dogs and 10 trainers. The trainers prepared the dogs for filming over eight weeks. Before filming, the actors spent 3-4 days in close contact with the dogs so the animals could get used to them.
Michelle Rodriguez (playing Nikki) performed many of the stunts herself.
To make the dogs look dirty and unkempt, they were smeared with a mixture of mud, hairspray, and glycerin.
Ian Somerhalder was initially cast for one of the roles, but he left the project even before filming began.
The phrase “Hello Cujo” is a reference to Stephen King’s novel *Cujo* (1981), in which a Saint Bernard contracts rabies and begins to terrorize a woman and child forced to seek refuge in a broken-down car.
