Short description
Sara and Brian live an idyllic life with their young son and daughter. But their family is rocked by sudden, heartbreaking news that forces them to make a difficult and unorthodox choice in order to save their baby girl's life. The parents' desperate decision raises both ethical and moral questions and rips away at the foundation of their relationship. - The film is based on the novel "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult (2004).
- Initially, Elle Fanning was supposed to play Anna Fitzgerald, and Dakota Fanning was to play Kate Fitzgerald. However, Dakota refused to shave her head for the role, and Sofia Vasilyeva was cast in the part instead.
- The film features a scene where Kate's parents are waiting for her in front of the television at night. They are watching the film "Pleasantville" (1998).
