Short description
Since 2014, France's restorative justice programmes have offered a safe space for supervised dialogue between offenders and victims. Grégoire, Nawelle, and Sabine, victims of heists and violent robberies, agree to join one of these discussion groups alongside offenders Nassim, Issa, and Thomas, all convicted of violent robberies. Meanwhile Chloé, a victim of childhood sexual abuse, prepares for dialogue with her own agressor after learning he has moved back into town.
What's left behind the scenes
- Zhanna Erri does not hold rehearsals. Instead, she organizes individual script read-throughs with the actors to ensure they understand the lines. However, after the read-throughs, no improvisation is allowed, and actors are required to follow the script exactly and flawlessly.
- While working on the film's script, Zhanna Erri constantly wondered whether to include scenes of violence and crime. After watching the French television series “En thérapie” (2021), she decided not to include such scenes in the film, but to allow the audience to imagine them for themselves.
